A Christmas Message
A Christmas Message

How are you feeling this Christmas?  Are you stressed, excited, peaceful, happy, sad; fearful?
Would you agree that the Christmas season, unlike any other, seems to intensify feelings?  I think
Charlie Brown expressed this best in the show "Charlie Brown's Christmas", when he checks his
mailbox and there are no Christmas cards and he remarks: "I know no one likes me but why do we
have to have a holiday to emphasize it!".  It doesn't matter what feelings you are experiencing, or
how scary or painful the world seems to be; the Course has a Christmas message that will take you
to an experience of  joy and peace where there is no "let-down" the morning after, and nothing of
this world has the power to turn it into sorrow.

The message A Course in Miracles give us is this: You are the holy Son whom God loves and
cherishes still.  You are Christ; the perfect Son at one with the Creator and one with all your
brothers.   Wow! That's quite a statement!  Do you believe it? Do you accept this as fact?  Jesus
did. He had a reawakening; a realization and acceptance of the true nature of his being. His
remembrance of his divinity was not for him alone but for all his brothers that they too may come to
realize the glory of who they are.  How close are we to this realization?  My guess is that most of us
feel more like Charlie Brown rather than a holy Son of God.  If so, than we have lost touch with our
true Reality and we can look to Jesus, our brother and our helper to show us how this can be the
Real Us.

The traditional understanding of Christmas is a celebration of Jesus birth in a body but from a
Course perspective we are celebrating the birth of Jesus' remembrance of his divinity, his
perfection and his holiness.    What does Christmas time become in light of the message that we
are all the perfect and holy Son of God; the Christ? Christmas becomes the time to birth this Christ
within our own minds and accept the truth of our own divinity and our own relationship to the
Father.  "It is in your power to make this season holy for it is in you power to make the time of Christ
be now." (T.15.X.4:1). When you look upon the baby lying in the manger can you see the reflection
of
your innocence, the radiance or your holiness? Can you see that you are God's beloved Son?

As you move through the Christmas holiday ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to experience it.  If
you are hurting "give the Holy Spirit everything that would hurt you.  Let yourself be healed
completely that you may join with Him in healing, and let us celebrate our release together by
releasing everyone with us." (T.15.XI.3:1-2)   Every morning, every evening and throughout the
day, turn your attention away from thoughts that hurt you and rest them on the Christ; the perfect
Self within. Rest and find the love that you seek, the union that you believe you were denied and
the peace that passeth all understanding.  Here is the joy of Christmas time found again in a place
we never thought to look. Underneath all the darkened ideas of who we are, deep within the mind.
Jesus welcomes us to claim our heritage as the holy Son of God and experience the joy this
realization brings. The joy of Christmas is found at last; not in a manger but within you.

No matter how much we believe we are Charlie Brown; the truth remains that we are the Christ; the
holy and perfect Son of God.   As you go about your day, allow this Self to shine into the world
through your mind, through your actions and through your words.  Spread the good news and
rejoice with the Angels that, "Christ is born today in me and in you as well!".
